Community Connections Program - Settlement Services for Immigrants

Provided by DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society (DCRS)

Assists immigrants and refugees to connect to and learn about their new community
Settlement and Community Programs consists of the following programs and activities:
  • Services for non-Permanent Residents
  • Services for Seniors
  • Volunteer Program
  • Food Security Program (Community Kitchen, Community Garden, Food Skills Workshops and Food Hampers)
  • FoodFit Program
  • Youth Integration Program
  • Pre-Arrival Services
  • First Steps Early Years Refugee Program
  • Annual Income Tax Program
  • Together Now support group for LGBTQ2S+ newcomers
  • DIVERSEcity’s Annual Bundle Up Campaign

Community Programs offer social support and introduce new comers to their new community to enable them:
  • Explore and learn more about your local community by participating in events and activities
  • Visit local community resources to learn more about Canadian culture, history and government systems
  • Meet other newcomers
  • Connect with a DIVERSEcity volunteer in a social setting to learn about Canadian culture, practice English and develop new friendships
  • Volunteer in your community to gain Canadian experience
  • Build confidence and become an active member of Canadian society
