Non-Profit Grocery Markets - For Low Cost Groceries

The Grocery Market program provides access to healthy and affordable food for those in need.
Offers a selection of food and household items to clients at significantly reduced costs. Clients must have a referral from a not-for-profit association, government office, health practitioner, school or church.

These markets are not open to the public at large. The clients of partnering Community Resource Agencies are able to have access to healthy food at an affordable price, and are empowered to make their own choices about what they purchase.

There are 4 grocery markets, with one in each of the following cities: Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster.

A referral is required.

Referral Process: To refer a client, the referral form must be completed. The form requires contact information for the client, the referrer, and the referring organization. All questions should be answered to the best of the referrer’s ability. Once submitted, an email confirmation will be sent to both the referrer and the client (if the client’s email address was provided).

How to Become a Quest Client:
  • Individuals who face economic barriers to purchasing healthy and affordable groceries may be eligible to become Quest clients.
  • A referral is required from a group, organization, or professional who supports the individual. Examples include a social service agency, non-profit organization, social worker, doctor, nurse, teacher, or school principal. Individuals renewing a Quest Client Card may use the same person or organization that provided their original referral.
  • The supporting person or organization can complete a referral online at questoutreach.org/refer-clients or submit a paper referral form
  • After the referral is submitted, individuals can visit the Quest Non-Profit Market selected on the referral form and bring a piece of photo identification.
  • A photo will be taken at the market to create a client card, allowing individuals to begin shopping at the market.
