F.A.M.E. Post Stroke Exercise Program

A medically supervised exercise program for people after stroke.
FAME (Fitness and Mobility Exercise Program) is a specialized, community-based exercise program designed to help stroke survivors improve their overall fitness and mobility. Developed by researchers at the University of British Columbia (UBC), FAME is tailored for individuals who have experienced a stroke and still retain some ability to stand and walk.
With expert guidance, participants work to:
- Enhance cardiovascular endurance
- Rebuild strength and coordination
- Improve arm and hand function
- Increase confidence in daily movement
The cost of the program is $99, which includes a private assessment. Each course consists of 14 classes held over 7 weeks. A doctor’s referral is required to attend. Caregivers are also welcome to join participants during the exercise classes.
This is a program run by the City of White Rock and supported by Move for Life, a health promotion project funded by the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.
